Toddlers proudly wave American flags as they watch in fascination as bands march past, followed by brilliantly decorated floats. Young children scramble for handfuls of candy thrown from passing clowns and other vibrantly dressed marchers. It's the annual Block Island 4th of July parade! The Barrington Inn guests get a front row spot on the lawn, we supply the beach chairs.
Block Island's traditional 4th of July parade begins at 11:00 am this year, starting at the Legion Hall on West Side Road. Floats, marching bands and other entertainment will progress along the traditional route and end downtown. Find a spot along the parade route and enjoy our hometown parade festivities.
The parade theme this year is "Favorite Holiday", with Don Littlefield as Grand Marshall, dressed in his Uncle Sam suit. Fireworks are scheduled at dusk on Saturday, July 5th.
